| 1. | What sort of houses do you design, just large expensive homes? This is a common misconception, we undertake a wide variety of housing projects of various scale; we have completed houses with budgets of 240k up to 3m. Often the projects with lower budgets are more interesting as they present a challenge and involve more innovation. |
| 2. | We are considering building a new house, what sort of costs are involved with using an architect? The costs are very much dependant on the complexity of the house and level of service provided. A low level service may include the house design and documentation for construction and building consent. A full level service may additionally include arranging a builder or tendering the project, construction observation, contract administration, and assisting with selection of fixtures and finishes. It is difficult to give a generic indication of costs as each project is different and has unique requirements, but generally costs can range between 4 - 12% of the construction value. If you are considering engaging an architect you are welcome to meet with us to discuss your options and how we may assist you with your project. |
